Congregational Meeting Scheduled for May 23, Noon

Updated: May 6, 2021

The annual congregational meeting will be held (via Zoom) on Sunday, May 23, at Noon. The agenda includes the following items for approval/election:

  • Request to approve the 2021-22 budget (for period June 1, 2021-May 31, 2022)

  • Request for the adoption of new mission and vision statements

  • Election of President-Elect, Treasurer, and two at-large board members

  • Election of two nominating committee members

In accordance with our bylaws, the board will send details about these agenda items to church members -- by US mail and email -- no later than Monday, May 10.

Article VI, Section 4 of the church bylaws state that “Only Voting Members who signed the Membership Book at least 30 days prior to the meeting shall have the right to vote.” In addition, a Voting member is one who “has made a recorded monetary contribution or a pledge in kind or whose name has been included in a family unit contribution to the Church within the immediate past 365-day.” (Article IV, sections 1 and 3 of the bylaws).

We will provide a tentative list of voting members in our official communication to members about the congregational meeting no later than May 10. Anyone who is unsure of their voting status may send an email to president@brazos-uu.org or text 713-703-3768 for verification.

The voting list will be finalized on Friday, May 21, to ensure the preparation of an accurate roster of voters. Therefore, donations received by that date will determine a member’s voting status. Donations may be made online or by check.

Our fifth UU principle promotes and affirms the democratic process. Let your voice be heard and your vote make a difference. Attend our annual meeting on May 12 at noon.

By the way, the congregational meeting is open to non-members as well.
