UUCBV, along with 15 other churches in the area, has volunteered to act as Host Church, once per quarter, for the BCS Family Promise. Our next host week is Dec. 16 - 22. This is a busy time of the year for everyone, so we hope we can have enough people volunteer to cover the duties of the Host Church.
Duties of the Host Church include - 1. Shopper - buys groceries for the week (i.e. breakfast, lunches & snacks) & delivers them to FP by Sunday, Dec. 16th. Cheryl Jacobson is our expert! 2. Warm Dinners - prepares warm dinners, Sunday -Thursday, Dec. 16 - 20. We already have Dec. 16 (Judy Hart) & 17 (Jerry Wagnon) covered. 3. Dinner Host - assists in serving dinner & mingles with clients from 5:30 - 7 pm, Sunday - Thursday. Often times the person preparing the dinner stays as the dinner host, but this is not required. 4. Overnight Host - sleeps overnight in
volunteer room from 8:30 pm to 7 am. We need to cover Sunday - Saturday, Dec. 16 - 22.
Other areas where you can help include tutoring in the evenings (especially in mathematics) & answering phone calls at the administrative desk from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, any night of the week. This is where the family members often stop by to talk, get help with homework, etc.
