Town Hall Meeting Sunday - We Need Your Input for Contract-to-Call Minister Search

Updated: Mar 28, 2021

The Board of Trustees and the Ministerial Search Committee are hosting a Town Hall Meeting Sunday, March 28 at Noon. Earlier this month, the Board shared its decision to search for a "Contract to Call Minister" with the goal of mid-August begin date. The Board elected a five-member Search Committee at its Board meeting Tuesday night -- Kathi Appelt, Pam Johnson, Maza Lazarus, Brian Lockridge, and Rob McGeachin.

We are searching for a "contract to call" minister. Entering into a contract with an "option to call" will give us and the minister an opportunity to develop a covenantal relationship in shared ministry. During this period, we can discern if we are the best fit for each other.

To increase the chances of finding the "right" minister, the Search Committee needs to hear from you. You are invited to participate in small-group discussions about the qualities, experience, skills, and experience you believe our new minister should have. Your comments will be included in the "congregational packet" to be shared with interested ministers so they have a clear picture of the kind of minister we want.

The Search Committee will select the applicants to be interviewed, conduct reference and background checks, and recommend one candidate for the Board to hire for one year with an option to renew for a second year. Near the end of the second year, the members of the congregation have the option to "call" the minister via a vote to enter into a covenantal arrangement with the minister for an indefinite period of time -- eliminating renewal of annual contracts or other ministerial searches.

Please mark your calendars and attend this special Town Hall Meeting - Sunday, March 28, Noon. See you there.
