Thanks for tuning in, Pam. I did as well. Rep. Donna Howard is really on top of these issues and I was impressed by Rosann Mariappuram, Executive Director of Jane’s Due Process, a young women who works with young women, mostly low income, around reproductive issues.
I attended this Facebook presentation - Conversations at the Edge of the Lege: SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the US), Abortion, Faith, ...
Representative Donna Howard made a great point - one of the best ways to prevent the bad legislation passed in Texas (a leader in abolishing abortion) is to switch the Texas State House so that the laws chipping away at the reproductive rights of women do not get passed. Since these restrictions predominantly affect the lower socioeconomic community due to increased costs from the required waiting periods for abortions, paying for ultrasound procedures, travel to abortion clinics that are fewer and farther away, this is a social justice issue.
