Ecast for 2/8/2021 Sacred Space Team (SST)

The Sacred Space Team members had a ZOOM meeting with our professionals on 2.8.2021.

Most of the discussion of our meeting centered on the A/C units and the necessity of keeping within our budget. The mechanical engineer will be looking over the specs of two different systems & their ability to handle humidity. He will get back to Brian with his recommendation. The SST emphasized we need a quiet system in the Sanctuary as well as a system that would do the job. The energy efficiency of different units was also discussed. Ken A. will be involved in the discussions about acoustics and quietness of the system with our acoustical engineer.

Gaye asked about the groundbreaking ceremony tentatively scheduled for April 10. The consensus was that would work. We agreed the final construction contract would need to be submitted and reviewed by our attorney to protect the UUCBV. Our church insurance would have to be updated with data we don’t have yet. After the contract is signed the construction company wants to start on land preparation which would take several weeks. This could be started before the ceremonial groundbreaking.

After the main meeting, the SST met with our architectural team. We confirmed the decisions made previously about having a family room, central air conditioning, and gas heating. At some point the church may be financially able to install solar power as the building is strategically located for the future for the best angle to collect sunlight for power. Also discussed was the previous decision to not have doors open directly from the Sanctuary to the Multi-Purpose room. Doors can be put in later if so desired & as finances permit. The Chapel is designed so that the “permanent” wall between the Sanctuary can be removed at a later date and we can have the ability to have the Chapel be open (or not) if desired directly into the Sanctuary. This would increase the number of seats being available for the Sanctuary.

I hope everyone will be patient! Our professionals are working hard to build the best Church possible while trying to work within the budget. As time goes on, we can add in more of the ideal features we desire. I am excited to see the results of all our group efforts!
