Repairing, Restoring, & Strengthening Our Village: a Town Hall & Forum

Updated: Jul 22, 2021

THURSDAY, JULY 22, 2021 AT 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM @ Brazos Valley African American Museum

An opportunity for residents, leaders, and officials to engage in open and honest conversation and dialogue regarding the situation that occurred on the night of July 4th as well as concerns and issues within the community, and how to move forward together in a more positive manner. The reason for me (Sedrick Gilbert)

organizing this town hall and forum was to gather residents, community leaders, and officials in order to address not only what occurred the night of July 4th on Martin Luther King Street on the eastside of Bryan, as well as for clarification, transparency, and accountability. It is not meant to demonize and/or attack anyone or group, but instead to seek answers and a path on which the neighborhood, and city, can move forward with better understanding and cooperation in a unified manner. While I know there are people who are angry and upset, and those feelings are valid, in order to find solutions, we must first listen and talk to one another in truth, honesty, and respect.

I have some tell me that they don't trust what our government and law enforcement officials say or do, but I ask that if you attend, please do so with an open mind. Let us not see one another as adversaries, and instead look towards working together in order to bring about a more positive and productive community where each and every resident receives equal treatment, having real reasons to be proud residents of Bryan, TX.
