POSTCARD BLITZ

POSTCARD BLITZ to say

NO to the 50+ Anti-LGBTQ+ bills

now filed in the 2023 Texas Legislature!

TXUUJM supports our partner, Equality Texas, with a POSTCARD BLITZ to fight the anti-LGBTQ+ bills in the Texas legislature. Fifty+ bills have been filed.

Join us Sunday, March 5, for a postcard-writing party after the service. We’ll have postcards, colored pens, and labels for you to use. After writing the postcards, we will send them to the Equality Texas office in Austin, where they will personally deliver boxes of postcards to our representatives.

PLAN: Every person will write one to three postcards each to –

Governor Greg Abbott

Lt Governor Dan Patrick

House Speaker Dade Phelan

Congressman Michael T. McCaul

Texas Senator Charles Schwertner

Ask our representatives to vote/say NO to all anti-LGBTQ+ bills.

The three anti-LGBTQ+ issues in the bills are –

  1. Bills interfering in private family decisions about lifesaving, best-practice care for transgender youth – bills restricting medical care for trans kids.

  2. Bills that micromanage teachers’ curricula, censoring classroom discussions about LGBTQ+ topics – bills eliminating LGBTQ+ information in schools.

  3. Bills that punish small businesses for creating safe spaces for the LGBTQ+ community – bills imposing drag show bans

On your postcard, please address one, two, or all three issues per postcard, or better,

write three separate postcards to each politician with one topic.

Postcards will also be available at the UUCBV on Sunday, February 26, for you to write at home. Consider having a postcard writing party.

Equality Texas must receive all postcards by MARCH 11, so return the postcards to the UUCBV on Sunday, March 5. Or put your written cards in a manilla envelope or box and mail them to
