Hello UUCBV!

Updated: Apr 2, 2020

There is so much excitement at UUCBV right now. The closing on the property at 1719 E. 29th street happened on May 24. We are beginning the next steps, for choosing an architect. The plans for the building are guided by the mission and vision of the church. Our mission and vision is over 10 years old, and we may need to revisit it as we plan what we want in a church building.

Earlier this year in a worship service I asked you what is your greatest hope for the church in the new building, that this will help guide the Sacred Space Team.

We will discontinue our first Wednesday meetings, from 6-8, talking about culture and bias during the summer months of June, July, and August. I do encourage you all to consider reading books over the summer about racial systemic bias and prejudice. I’m leaving some from my personal library on the small table in the office over the summer. Please just mark on the sign-out sheet which one you have. This is ongoing learning for everyone to Side with Love, to be able to harness the power of love to end oppression. This is the truth of who we are.

I will also not be holding coffee shop hours on Fridays in the summer. I am pretty much traveling for vacation and study time from June 18 to July 27, and again in August from August 11-22. I will be in the pulpit June 2, 9, 16, July 28, August 4 & 25.

Come to worship this summer – you’ll be inspired by the guest ministers and speakers who will be in the pulpit much of the summer. Have a great summer!

Minister’s hours - I am in the office at the Hillel and welcome impromptu visits during these subject to change times, June 4-6; 11-13, July 30 – August 2, August 20-22 and August 27-29. Outside my regular office times you can reach me for emergencies by email, text or phone call. My personal cell phone is the best way to reach me, and If you need me immediately, please call and text

. Watch the Ecast for which area minister will be available for normal pastoral care while I’m away.

Peace and Blessings,

Rev. Donna
