Happy New Year from the Board President

Happy New Year!

It is my hope and prayer that 2021 will be a wonderful year for each of you – and for our congregation. Brazos UU is on the precipice of an exciting future.

We are about to begin construction on our new building – the fulfillment of a dream many of us have had for over two decades after learning we would “lose” our building on Welborn to the Texas Department of Transportation. What a great achievement to arrive at this important milestone in our history! My gratitude for all of you who have given – and who will continue to give -- your time, talents, and treasures to achieve this dream!

We are taking a journey together as we participate in our mission/vision process and identify what we have been, what we are now, and what we will be as a UU congregation in the Brazos Valley. In the third session of this process, scheduled in late January, we will have conversations around the topic of “what we are called to be”, as we align our current resources, gifts, and passions with the needs of our congregation and the wider community of Bryan/College Station. Let’s continue to dream together and shape our future.

As a Unitarian Universalist, I believe the primary purpose of this faith is to “heal the world” through ultimacy and intimacy. As a UU congregation in Brazos Valley, perhaps we are called to provide a safe place in which we can all experience ultimacy and intimacy. Not only a place for our current members, but for others in this small part of the “world” who yearn for the ultimate connection to that which is greater than ourselves and for the intimate connection in a faith community that can support one another in our search. As members of this congregation, let’s share the oasis we have come to love and shine a beacon, inviting the community around us to come together to fulfill our purpose of healing the world. Let this be our dream!
