President Franklin Roosevelt spoke of the Four Freedoms in 1941, including freedom of speech, freedom to worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. Author Margot Lee Shetterly names these freedoms in her account of the Black women who advanced the effort to send people to space. We explore freedom from want as found in the movie, Hidden Figures, and how moving beyond such oppression brings us closer to the stars.
Our plan for July is to watch each movie on Saturday evening 5PM preceding the Sunday service relating to that movie and you're invited to watch with us using our normal Sunday Service ZOOM link found at the top of our homepage so we can all enjoy a "night at the movies" together.
We encourage everyone to treat this as a "Dinner and A Movie" event so feel free to enjoy your food and beverage of choice during the show (just don't forget to turn your camera and microphone off while you eat). There will be an intermission for restroom breaks, refreshments, and brief discussion before watching the second half of the movie, and then we'll open up for discussion and dessert afterward!
