Property Progress in November

The Sacred Space Team is overjoyed construction has started on 1719 E. 29th Street!

Cedar trees and smaller trees and bushes have been removed in order to make way for our building slab and parking lot. Our contractors and their sub-contractors have been busy preparing the ground for our future building and parking & driveway areas.

The cedar trees are being saved to make outdoor furniture for our church.

We have experienced two snafus already. The subcontractors from Houston who were supposed to construct our foundation piers saw our UU sign on the front of the lot. They decided they would not work for a UU church & turned around and went back to Houston! Our contractor said this should not delay our project, they had plenty of site work to do, and they would hire another subcontractor. This did not cause us to lose any money.

The second snafu was there is water collection adjacent to the fence with Terminix, near our to-be-constructed driveway/parking lot that may need a French drain. Our civil engineer is evaluating the situation.

The SST submitted and had BOT approval for our “Charges” to the Property Acquisition Team and the Sacred Space Team”.
