Experience Your Own ONE-ON-ONE Performance

Especially for YOU!

Our own, James R Ball III

Assistant Professor, Department of Performance Studies

is sponsoring this 1-ON-1 performance with live artist

Tania El-Khoury and musician and street artist Basel Zaraa.

From 1/26 - 2/20/21, the Academy for Visual and Performing Arts at TAMU is presenting

As Far As Isolation Goes (Online) a virtual, 1-on-1 performance developed in collaboration by renowned live artist Tania El-Khoury and musician and street artist Basel Zaraa.

The work is a collaboration between live artist Tania El Khoury and musician and street artist Basel Zaraa. Reimagined for an online experience during physical distancing, the piece is a 1-on-1 virtual intimate experience.

Built from their original collaboration, As Far As My Fingertips Take Me, El Khoury commissioned Zaraa to record a rap song inspired by the journey his sisters made from Damascus to Sweden. This online iteration focuses on mental and physical health experiences of refugees in the United Kingdom. Zaraa created a song inspired by conversations with friends and colleagues who have recently claimed refuge in the UK.

Age Advisory: 16+

The performance uses touch, sound, and interactivity in an intimate zoom encounter between one audience member and Zaraa, to explore the experience of refugees. More information can be found here: https://academyarts.tamu.edu/Events/As-Far-As-Isolation-Goes-%E2%80%94-Tania-El-Khoury-and-Bas Since only one audience member can experience the show at a time, we are presenting it 10 times a day, 5 days a week, for 4 weeks, for 200 total performances. Tickets for specific 25 minute time slots may be pruchased at boxoffice.tamu.edu. I am very excited to be hosting this show, and I hope you will be able to find a time to experience it.

Yours,

Jim
