Green Tip of the Week

Collect running water from your shower while you wait for it to get hot. Over 10% of the water drawn from showering is wasted waiting for hot water to arrive. Collecting this excess of water in a bucket is a creative way to reduce this waste. The fetched water can be used for watering the plants, washing the car or floor, flushing the toilet, or filling the dog's water bowl.

Yes, this is super simple when you have a bucket just for this purpose. This is perfect for plants in the bathroom too. The bucket is a visual reminder for me to actually water my garden. I need all the reminders that I can get. Life is so busy anymore.

You can also start with smaller buckets and reuse as much water as the smaller bucket allows. Any step forward is a step in the right direction.

That's a good idea but it would take a lot of thinking and planning ahead. Does anyone have experience doing this or have ideas on what is the best way to do this. I imagine having lots of water dripping out of a bunch of buckets and my husband going crazy looking at the water all over the place. Maybe there are specific containers that we can use?
