Congregational Meeting March 1

The Board of Trustees asks that you mark your calendars for a specially called Congregational Meeting on Sunday, March 1, from noon to 2 pm, in the multipurpose room. This meeting was requested by five members—Hans Van Buijtenen, Sharon Boston, Erin Wilkerson, and Allison and John Faber. The following is their proposed agenda for the meeting. Questions about the meeting can be directed to the petitioners, as well as to any members of the Board.

Proposed Agenda: March 1 Congregational Meeting

Presentation by the Board of Directors on Minister Change

-Explain Types of Ministers including Developmental Minister

-Explain the reasoning behind needing an accredited interim minister (what qualities are you looking for in an interim minister? Reasoning behind hiring another minister for two years when we have a minister here that many of us like, who has been involved in the process of planning the new building and the long-term goal is for a settled minister in September 2022)

-Explain the process for hiring a minister/not renewing a contract of a minister (Is there a transparent objective procedure?)

Open Discussion/Testimonials

This will be an open time for the congregation to engage in discussion and to begin the healing process

Motion to address potential changes in the bylaws regarding the hiring of ministers at this meeting and the May congregational meeting

What is the best practice going forward?

Ways to connect and build community

-Quarterly town hall meetings for more open communication

Discussion of potential congregational-building events like pot lucks, coffee houses, etc.
