Green Tip of the Week

Cigarette butts contribute to plastic waste and more. 98% of cigarette filters are made of plastic fibers that stay around for a long time. Cigarette butts leach toxic chemicals such as arsenic (used to kill rats) and lead. Littering remains a common method of disposing of cigarette butts. So, if you know anyone who smokes, encourage them to quit and not throw their butts on the ground of waterways.
